Creating a Brand Book
Today, almost every company that has a logo decides to create a brand book. Put simply, a brand book is a guide that defines the logo and the rules for using it. This is the so-called basic brand book, which focuses mainly on the logo itself and how it should be applied. It usually contains three core elements: the construction of the logo, its color palette, and typography.
However, such a minimal version is rare. More often, a brand book goes further, at least partially covering broader aspects of visual identity. This means it also includes elements like graphic motifs, complementary brand colors beyond those in the logo, and other visual guidelines.
Sometimes, the brand book can be even more comprehensive, extending to areas that are not directly related to the logo—or even visual design at all. Yet, this information proves essential for understanding how to use a company’s brand mark consistently and effectively.
